338 Days To Go!

The Story of US

Picture of The Story of US

Some love stories begin with a grand gesture. Theirs began quietly, in the rooms of recovery, where two people were unknowingly beginning a journey that would change both of their lives forever.

One of Charles and Felicia's very first conversations in 2019 left a lasting impression on her. He asked a simple question: "Are you happy?" No one had asked her that question in a very long time. It was a small moment, but one she never forgot. For the first time, she began seeing him differently—not just as a friend, but as someone who genuinely cared about her heart. In January 2019, Charles first noticed Felicia sitting across a meeting room. He was immediately drawn to her warmth, her smile, and the way she carried herself. There was something about her presence that stood out from everyone else.

At the time, he had no idea that the woman who caught his attention that day would one day become his best friend, his greatest supporter, and the love of his life. For Felicia, Charles was simply a newcomer who had found his way into recovery. She remembers seeing him sitting behind her in a meeting when he had less than thirty days clean. Like so many others in the rooms, she was grateful he had made it there. Neither of them knew that a friendship—and eventually a lifelong partnership—was quietly beginning to take shape.

Their first meaningful conversation came on New Years Eve as 2019 turned into 2020 at a party hosted by mutual friends. What seemed like an ordinary conversation became the beginning of a friendship neither fully understood at the time. Soon after, they shared meals with friends, attended meetings together, and spent countless hours talking and laughing. Being together felt easy. Comfortable. Natural. Although recovery was where their paths first crossed, it quickly became clear that their connection extended far beyond the rooms. They found themselves drawn to one another by shared values, genuine friendship, and an undeniable sense of peace in each others company. One of their earliest adventures together was attending an N.A. convention in Monterey. Officially, they were still just friends. Unofficially, something deeper was growing. Between long conversations, laughter, and shared experiences, they were building the foundation of a relationship without even realizing it. On December 6, 2019, Charles celebrated one year clean. When he raised his hand to acknowledge the milestone, Felicia jokingly called dibs. Neither realized then how prophetic that playful moment would become. The friendship continued to grow over the following months. Then came March 1st. Charles spent the day helping Felicia move into her new place. By then, countless conversations, meetings, and shared experiences had created a bond neither could ignore. What Charles didn't know was whether Felicia felt the same way. That day, she answered the question. She kissed him. In an instant, everything changed. Looking back, that kiss wasn't the beginning of their story—it was simply the moment they finally acknowledged the story that had already been unfolding. Shortly afterward the world shut down during the COVID pandemic. While uncertainty surrounded everyone, Charles and Felicia found themselves spending more time together than ever before. They became adventurers, taking hikes, exploring new places, and finding joy in life simple moments. During a time when much of the world felt isolated, they grew closer and learned who they truly were as individuals and as partners. Over the years, their relationship continued to deepen through both extraordinary adventures and everyday moments. They traveled together, explored the world, stood before the pyramids of Giza, and even jumped out of an airplane. Along the way, they learned not only how to travel together, but how to navigate life together. One lesson came during an early trip when an airline lost Charles luggage. Felicia wanted to fix the situation for him, but instead learned something more important: love isn't always about solving problems. Sometimes love means simply standing beside someone exactly where they are. That became one of the cornerstones of their relationship. They learned to love each other through every season—good, bad, and everything in between. Like every great love story, theirs wasn't without challenges. Toward the end of 2022 and into 2023, they faced one of the most difficult periods of their relationship. There were moments when the future seemed uncertain, and the possibility of losing one another felt very real. But the foundation they had built through friendship, trust, commitment, and unconditional love proved stronger than the obstacles before them. They found their way back to each other. An in doing so, they realized something important: what they had was worth fighting for. Together, they continued building a life side by side. They celebrated victories, weathered hardships, supported one another growth, and continued choosing each other every single day. Then, on March 16, 2026, while surrounded by the beauty of the ocean and members of their recovery family aboard a cruise, Charles got down on one knee and asked Felicia to spend forever with him. She said yes. In that moment, every meeting, every conversation, every road trip, every hike, every challenge, every reunion, every laugh, and every tear led them exactly where they were meant to be. Today, they stand on the threshold of their next great adventure, preparing to become husband and wife. Their story is not one of perfection. It is a story of growth, recovery, friendship, resilience, forgiveness, faith, and unwavering commitment. It is a story of two imperfect people who learned to love each other exactly where they were and who continue choosing each other, day after day. What began as a glance across a meeting room became a friendship. What began as a friendship became a love story. An what became a love story is now becoming a lifetime. June 4, 2027, cant come soon enough.

Let’s fkn go. ❤️💍🎉
